I just did my clutch with the MTC brand clutch. I used .075 shims on each post after installing the clutch and before the springs and bolts.
I reused my steel plates for now (I thought they came in the kit Noob mistake).

I now have no pressure at the clutch lever and when I pop it into gear it is as if the clutch is being pulled in (engaged?) or still in neutral.

The bike rolls when it shouldn't.

WHAT DID I DO WRONG?!?!?!?!

It seemed so simple.

2005 VTX 1300S.

after opening her back up everything looked "normal". Last plate offset.

This is how I had the shims set Springs and then bolts. Shims sat on posts then Springs then bolts.

The posts that the shims and springs go on are tapered. This last pic is for demonstration purposes only. this is not how I had it put together. But the shims stopped the pressure plate from being pressed by the springs. Is this correct?

I also have a video but it is 47Mb. It shows how loose the pressure plate is without the clutch lever being pulled. But I am not sure how to post it.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I watched that one and a couple of others.. still can't figure out what's wrong.

This will sound stupid but are you sure that you have your clutch cable adjusted correctly? Did you readjust it after replacing the clutch at the main adjustment over the water pump area? I know it is a simple thing, but you never know until you check the simple things.

Pressure plate is loose.
Do you have the correct number of friction and steel disks?
OEM has 6 - B disks and 2 - A disks, 7 - steels

Torque the bolts to 9 ft-lbs??

1300 clutch is rarely changed since they used good springs..
Not many threads on it or problems.

@Hans&Feet I have 7 Steel and 8 Friction plates. What are A-Discs and B-Discs? The clutch was slipping is why I changed it out. I used the springs that came with the kit because they were new.
@cal_105 I put a new clutch cable in at the same time. I'll make sure to double check adjustment when I get it back together.

From everything I could see it was also for the vtx 1300
Like @Hans&Feet said hard to find anything on the 1300 clutch lol.

8 friction and 7 steels are good. Honda used 6 and 2 possibly different friction material.

Problem--the shims are in the wrong place. Picture #2.
You mentioned the shims would not go completely on the tapered bolt posts(pic #5)
You put them in after you put placed the pressure plate on so they stopped on the tapered post.
Springs tightened up against shim(pic #5) to bolt head.
Remove the bolts, shims and pressure plate.
Put the springs in, then the shims then the bolts.
Alternate tightening of the bolts..
You may want to try the clutch lever before you put the cover back on.
You may have more lever pull force with the MTC springs vs OEM without using shims..

@Hans&Feet Thanks again for your help. Putting the shims between the bolts and springs fixed my no pressure issue. I did check it before putting everything back together this time..

As always everyone is so helpful on this forum!!
