I've got a C with Roadhouse Slip-ons, which are pretty loud, probably partly because they're a good bit shorter than the R or S mufflers, and they can't be quieted because Roadhouse doesn't make quiet baffles for the C. I'm toying with going back to the stockers and doing the Clayton mod, but first I'd like to try plugging the PAIR intake hose to see how that might change the sound. My question is will plugging the intake tube cause any damage to the PAIR valve? If I do go back to the stockers I'd like the PAIR system to work like it's supposed to.

If you pull the hose off the pair valve itself, the one that comes from the airbox. stick a marble in it to plug it up. This will let you try it out without pulling the system. When your done experimenting just squeeze the marble out of the hose. If you leave it in for a prolonged amount of time you may see some condensation in the bottom of the airbox. Not a huge amount and it won't get into your carb.
Have fun.

P.S. It won't harm the valve.
