personally, I would only plug a motorcyle tire long enough to get it to a shop and replace it.

would never rely on it for any length of time.

I think there are too many variables here. Is the plug in the low part of the tread or on the top of the tread? How big is the plug? How old are the tires?

I have a buddy who would ride a plugged rear tire, but never a front. "Never f*** around with front tires".

I'm with Mr. Incredible. While many have plugged a tire and ridden until the cords showed, I would personally never do it. I run darkside (CT) and several years ago, picked up a flooring ringed nail 250 mi. from home. Thank GOD I had foresight to run Ride-On sealant gel in my tires. It got me to my friend's house where I was staying the night. Didn't even know it was there until the next morning when another friend staying there noted my back tire was flat. Had to buy a kit at a parts store when it opened, stick the plug in and hope it got me home. It did BTW. Next day I replaced the CT with an identical one. I had about 7K on the tire, so it looked like new. Added 2 more bottles of Ride-On to the new one and haven't had any problem since. Also thank GOD the car tire is half the price of a MT.

So even with RideOn it went flat? Isn't RideOn supposed to seal a puncture?

In my experience Ride on wont permanently seal. It's meant to prevent sudden loss of pressure and keep you going. Once you stop and it cools, it will let air out. Now, if you were to air up and ride, it would likely seal it back up.

JPT called it right. It stopped an immediate flat or blowout situation and got me 30 mi. to my friend's house where I then discovered it had gone flat overnight. Old saying: An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Or in my case 16 oz.(2 - 8oz. bottles because it was a CT) was worth a full pound of getting me safely to a haven.

I had to plug a rear tire several years ago. When I took the tire off to replace it, I noticed the plug had flared on the inside making near impossible for it to blow out. It probably would have held for many more miles. But, like most folks, I replaced it for good measure.

Always have something like this.
I find the inflation cartridges are mostly useless. I carry a very small air compressor;
But the Harley does have a cigar lighter.
Here's one that's rechargeable;

I took a look at those things, do you think there’s enough of those little CO2 dudes to actually fill a big back tire on a motorcycle?
I have never used it. It just rides in the bag with a bunch of other stuff I don't see much.

That’s how it is with this baby compressor kit that I carry around (never even tried it), you hook it to your battery and maybe 40 minutes later your tire has air in it if you’re lucky lol
40 minutes? running or not? killer of the battery.

Well, I reckon I would read the directions but a smart man would run the bike and hope that it wouldn’t take 40 minutes but who knows
Just curious at what rpm it would have to run? Since these bikes don't really charge at an idle. But point is taken. I never was very smartish.

Mine doesn't take anywhere that long, but what it does do is take a lot less time than getting a tow truck out to the middle of nowhere.
If I were relying on the CO2 cartridges, I would carry a few extras, just in case.
