Want to buy a batwing/fairing for '02 VTX1800R-handlebars are higher than stock

I bought my bike used and it has extras on it from the previous owner. I want to buy a batwing/fairing for my bike. The handlebars have a 3" riser that extends the handlebars 3" above stock. Will the batwing/fairing work with that?

I don't know whose fairing that you are thinking of purchasing but
my bike has a replica of a 1970s Harley fairing on it
(meant to replace the stock Harley fairing that someone might have
stripped off a Harley to make a chopper or bobber).

I have Rivco risers on my bike which are about 2 inches taller than stock and
those risers place my hands barely above the top of the handguards of
the fairing.

I have taken my left hand of the handlebar and placed my hand farther forward
behind the handguard, and I believe that even with the stock risers, the
handlebars (C model) that I have would be too far behind the handguards
to offer much protection from the wind and cold.

In late October and early November I ride my bike with handlebar mittens
(from a 4WD ATV) attached to the handlebars. They keep my hands warm
and allow me to use thinner gloves so I can still feel the controls and
switches.

Yes it will work. M.S. mounts to the forks so you should be fine.

If these are pullback risers you will have no issues with wind protection. If you had some mini-ape bars then yeah you would have some wind protection issues. But as far as fitment you will be fine. I have 6 1/2" pullback risers and have a M.S. windshield and it works perfectly.

Batwing with Risers

View attachment 68556 I have a '08 1800 T and running an MS Batwing with 12" shield and Scoot Works 4" risers. Absolutely no problems and the fairing fits nice and close to the headlight nacel. Having trouble attaching pics for your viewing. Happy to e-mail 'em to you just need your address.
