I had it installed, but they connected it to a brakelight power source. I was told that you have to watch out for the amps (or ohms) going through the line. If you don't you may get some squealing in the radio.
I love it. I just plug a Boostaroo personal amp http://www.boostaroo.com/ into it and use earbuds. It's real nice for the longer solo rides.
I have XM which is an identical hook up. It's very easy to do and there are many options for sound ranging from earbuds, or power speakers, to stereo set ups like the one tomkatkustom is selling.
You don't have to spend very much to get sound, but you do have to understand basic wiring. I had mine running off a relay that cut it off with the key. Then went to a off/on switch so I could listen without the motor running.
The antenna sits fine on the mirror stem but you can also buy mounts.
There are very many ways to go on this.
