Greetings,
A couple of years ago, I gave my bike it's Winter inspection and noticed that some of the rubber hoses were getting a bit long in the tooth. I bought my bike new in 2004 and I guess it only make sense that these items would begin to deteriorate some. I decided that before a problem would occur on the road, I would take each system (one per year) and change out, completely clean and up-date with new OEM parts.
So, for the past couple of years I have been changing out all of the rubber/plastic hoses and parts. A couple of years ago I started with the cooling system - hoses, clamps, flush the system,. Last year it was the front brake system - hose, clamps, clean and rebuild the caliper and new pads.
This Winter's project will be the rear brake system. I just put the bike on my stand and began to assemble a list of all of the parts I will need for this project. I am looking at starting from the brake peddle all the way back. I know this will take some time but hey, up here in N.E. Ohio we have plenty of time with the cold weather hitting us from Now till April.

If any of you have already done this project and have to tips or pointer - please chime in.

Well I'll keep you posted on the progress.

DrRolittle,
Not sure you are responding to the correct discussion. I did not mention anything about a light?

A good source of info on several different brake pad and line related issues.

I am going to document my work on this project - step by step for future reference.
