Hey guys, looking for some pointers on installing highway pegs on my crashbar. I've seen something about using electrical tape to prevent the possibility of scratching the bar until you get the pegs just right. Any ideas?

Electrical tape is good, thin piece of rubber.

A friend of mine used nothing then later stipped the highway pegs off in lieu of a sale. With a little polishing, you could hardly tell the pegs were once on the crash bars.

I keep electrical tape under anything metal to metal. I trim it down so you can't see it from the outside. I sold a bike 2 years ago, letting alot of stuff go because to remove it showed blemishes left behind.

Small piece of bicycle tire tube. Cuts down on slippage

Thanks Guys, got it done. Wish I would have known that tip before I put the old ones on, but i might be able to buff those little scuffs out later. Otherwise. it was so much easier not worrying about perfect placement without scratching up the bar.

I've had good luck in the past with cutting an empty milk carton to fit under the clamp. Inexpensive and works great.
