Did Ultimate use plastic for the seat's pan as another poster seemed to mention?

Far as I'm concerned it's either metal or fiberglass. It'd surprise me they'd use plastic for their seats' pans given how expensive the seat is. Seat pans take a lot of beating and last thing you'd want there is plastic.

I've had great experience with seats using fiberglass pans.
I got my seat new direct from Ultimate Seats over winter... It is a hard plastic.

The factory seat is plastic too...

Proof of Ultimate's pan. I am very happy with my seat, and how it fits my bike. It fits my bike just as well as the OEM seat, unlike my Corbin. The Corbin does not move around once installed, but doesn't fit by the tank very well.

Now, My seat is from December of 2018, as you will notice it does not have the massive "X" (I'm glad, I almost wish it didn't even say "Ultimate"). So, if they changed the design, I can not speak to the pan on older seats.

Used 12 years ago, wow...

How is it holding up?
Excellent...1 small crack (J.B. welded) in pan under the rear bumper that rest on the fender...leather still supple with no seam rips or tears....back rest in similar shape... ...passenger pillion (bought new) doesn't see much action..:frown: set up solo...

Yes , the pan is hard plastic, which I think is OK for the vertical pressure down on it from our bodies(fat butts). The problem is the backrest bracket gets horizontal stress towards the back of the bike, which cracked the plastic base pan causing the backrest to move back and down.
