My Honda VTX 1300 custom that I have had only a year and got used with 27000 miles on it was shifting just fine. Then wile on the interstate stop shifting and was stuck in second. I finally got it to nutral to get it up on a roll back to get home. I messed with it and finally got first back but nothing else. It just shifting from N to 1st and back won’t go into 2nd or any other gear. Can someone help please. I’ve tried rocking it that’s how I got first back. I’m thinking something internally is gone out. It has 29000 miles on it now.

And I haven’t been able to ride it for about 7 months now I’m just about ready to scrape it. I can’t ride and I’m paying on it so I’m a little bit ticked that I can’t ride.

Is it toe shifter or toe/heel shifter?
Did you ever grease the shifter pivot point?
Does it have a good bit of slack at the toe?
A spring on the shifter shaft breaks once in awhile. Shift return spring, $7. Part # 10 on shifter drum parts.

How did you find out? Did you have to open up the transmission?

Yikes! Ouch is right. Very rare failure. Had the bike been raced?

It's a VTX. Of course it's been raced! Every time my VTX is on the road, it is raced.
