Need a sissy bar and luggage rack. Looking for comfort, strength and ease of mounting, more than looks. Need to be able to fasten a backpack on it. Seems like the Cobra 17" sissy bar and attached luggage rack look the best. COB-025160 and COB-023500. Any thoughts?

Sissybar

I have the Cobra stadard sissybar, andI find it to be of good quality and very easy to install. I don't have the luggage rack yet, but plan on adding it. Ihave the studded Mustang backrest pad to match the Mustang seat.

I just bought the Bestem backrest and luggage rack from cruiserbackrests.com. I'm very pleased with it and only paid about $300 for the whole setup. I carry my backpack on it all the time now and it works great.

HOndaline

I have the Honda brand deluxe backrest, carrier and mounts. They are very expensive, but look good and were very easy to install. Did all of them in about 30 minutes or less. Solid pieces that fit well and are heavy duty. I can't speak for other brands, but if you have the money I recommend the HondaLine stuff. If you want to save a few bucks, I hear the other two mentioned above me are nice as well and haven't heard about any problems from them.

Cobra sissy bar and luggage rack. The rack is longer then most and looks great.

I have a Cobra Sissy bar for a 1300R . I bought it shortly after I bought the bike and it was on for about 3 months until I changed my seat for a corbin. It is the Cobra Standard and is about 17in tall. If you are interested in it PM me.

Hard to tell if looks is an issue or not -- first you say it's not, then you say Cobra seems to looks best??

I have the National Cycle Paladin quick release sissy bar and luggage rack. It's a bit spendy, but the quality and practicality is hard to beat. Some members have made their own quick release system out of regular mount Sissy Bars... I'm sure some will chime in.

I have a mixed breed combo.......I have the bestem deluxe sissybar and mounts and I have a hondaline deluxe rack.......I had a oem hondaline deluxe sissybar and was not impressed with it, the fender mounts were great but the backrest was not made well.

On the Hondaline Deluxe sissybar there are 4 tabs where the bolts go thru to hold the backrest pad on......If you look there welded on to the uprights only on the inside, then when they chrome it the process makes the welds brittle. I had 1 of the tabs break off at the weld. I was going to see if I could get it welded back on but I thought for the price it should of never happened in the first place. I looked at the other 3 that were left and you can see where they were getting ready to do the same thing.

I got a good deal on a bestem rack and mount so I bought it, I looked and the mounting tabs and they are welded on BOTH sides.......the metal is not qute as thick as the Honda Line but it is still a very heave piece......The Bestem also is not chromed on the back of the fender mounts, it looks like a galvanized finish but it didnt matter to me because you can't see it anyway + I only put my backrest combo on when my wife rides with me.

I can switch seats and take the sissybar combo on or off or put it on in less than 2 minutes....I notched the fender mounts to make it a quick release. If I were to have to buy another one I would definatly go with the bestem over the Hondaline.
