I pick up my tire tomarrow and hopefully the rubbing noises in the turns and wobbles will be gone but my pessimism is working overtime this week and am afraid the bearings will need changing. Has anybody come up with an improvised stem socket? Somebody made one on the cafe site but it looked like a tool and die job and the over-kill bearings going in shouldn't have to be done again. I have the service manual and access to some multi-pictured how tos and would appreciate any what to look out fors. Hopefully this is like the letter from "Camp Grenada".

Sam,

You can loosen up and re-tighten up the top nuts with a pair of big channel locks or a large drift punch and a hammer. Be careful using the drift punch method not to slip off and mar the nut. This is what I have used for years..................Just sayin ya know?

Also, removing the upper and lower races from the stem can be done with a heal or step punch if you dont have the proper bearing race pullers!
