I'm not sure why, but my Silverstar main bulb has been going for like 4 years plus now. But the Silverstars in my driving lights tend to burn out every other year and I only use them for night driving to conserve their lives.

They are much better than stock, but I'd sure like an LED kit like you can get on the Harley's now....that light package is phemomenal. Of course, they are over like $700 I heard...better be good.

Being a mechanic Im afraid of them, Ive seen too many wires and sockets melted because they create so much heat and draw so much current.

If you go overboard yes they will. I have had mine on my VTX for a year...............no problems.

My high beam burned out last week, so when I went to replace the silverstar I had in there, I went to Fleet Farm to see their options. They have the 2 pack of silverstars for $35, which was cheaper than Autozone. I downgraded to the Ultravision for only $15 per 2 pack. Supposed to be brighter than stock, but a bit less than silverstar and longer life span. I might go for a ride tonight to test it out. Will report back.
