Acro,

Thanks again for the lift home, don't know how I would have gotten back. I also appreciate all the help all the WIVOs gave me.

Lending out cars (Steve and Marney) for friends to pick me up, lifts and advice, etc.

You guys are the best!

Thanks

-Mike

Mark,

Thanks for the offer but I think the bike is a total loss. If not I'll let you know.

FYI, Monty, I'm having the risers taken off before the bike is turned to salvage!

Is the exhaust stock and are they wrecked? I have a spare set.

Don't worry about it. I don't need them that much. Glad to hear that you are in one piece even though your bike isn't.

Well seeing you "coloradical types" are keepin it mum.

Don't know what happenned, but glad yer OK- (as far as I know anyway- you can still type.) Bikes are just objects- easily enough replaced.

Good luck

Mike, heard about your wreck as well as Greedy's today, I'm glad that all of you weren't hurt seriously but it really sucks about your bike.

On the other hand, I am starting to get serious about getting the new Victory Vision (I now have a reservation number and a dealer selected plus the option package I want) so I will be putting up my X for sale soon!

Well, here's what it comes down to......... I really, I mean REALLY like the foot forward seating position of the X, but my better half isn't enthusiastic about riding passenger on it for longer trips, she prefers the Goldwing as a passenger. Well, the problem with that is that the seating position on the Wing puts your feet slightly back towards being under your butt and thus puts more stress on the knees. I've been a machinest for my entire working career, spending 8 to 9 hours a day standing or walking on concrete floors and after 20 some odd years of doing so my knees really hurt when I come home and sit down for a few minutes. I'm sure loosing some weight will help, but I'm also sure the pain will never completely go away unless I get a new pair of knees. What it boils down to is that the new Victory Vision appears to have all the creature comforts of the Wing for the rider (even more if you include the electrically adjustable windshield) as well as that comfortable foot forward seating position complete with HUGE rider floorboards that offer many foot positions, the key thing for us will depend on Pegster's comfort level as a passenger.

Here is a pic of the new Victory Vision with rider and passenger:

106 cubic inches of v-twin power with a 6 speed transmission w/ true overdrive, 849 pounds wet

[quote="mark_1bx":2tkpmwli]What's the condition of Bluto and bike?
Did Bluto and Lace go down as well out there???[/quote:2tkpmwli]

Nope, we went down in Virginia  Down hill, decreasing radius, blind right hander with a negative camber on the road and a little loose stuff for excitement! We are both fine, just a couple of bruises and a 2" cut on my chin where I broke off the Hoppe windshield  Took a couple of days to get her back on the road (mainly because the dealership was closed on wednesdays and weren't real concerned with geting me back on the road). A huge thanks to Mike for overnighting me a set of rotors and a rad to get me back on the road otherwise we would still be there!

Damage wasn't really that heavy at all. Bent the engine guards (they had to come off but they did their job) and the top mount rotated and punched a hole in the rad. The fairing took most of the damage (small tear and some scratching) and a busted windshield. A big thanks to Glenn at Hoppe for overnighting me a replacement! Some paint damage on the tank, front fender and saddle bag but no dents or anything. Here's a pic from the ride in Colorado of the side we didn't go down on.

And a shot of the side we did go down on. You can see some of the scratches on the fairing, most of what you see are bugs though!
