Well, not really, but if you're fool enough to believe it call this number and give out your vital information to a stranger!

I got a call left on my answering machine today that had a robotic voice telling me the IRS has filed a lawsuit against me, and to call the number immediately to resolve the issue.

I got a laugh out of how obvious a scam it was, because; 1) The IRS owes me money, and 2) The IRS doesn't do things this way.

Still, I thought it worth noting to the members here to watch out for these phone calls. Here is a link on the topic with info on where to report the scam if you receive a similar message:

No worries; when Cruz becomes the next POTUS he'll dismantle the IRS as promised :wink2:
Trump will be our next POTUS.

Did you go cast your vote for Hillary yet?

I know your not being genuine to your socialist mantle and voting for the Bern.

I've gotten similar messages recorded on my answering machine.
I agree - nothing says "SCAM" as obviously as that - but clearly, they must be duping a few victims for it to be a continuing enterprise.

scam

They also do it with other companies like the power Company. they call and say they are on their way to cut off the power, especially to restaurants, if you don't send them money right away. They say you did not pay your bill. Bunch of scum bag scam artists.

It's the same typical 'scare tactic' the Dems use to get people to vote for them! "Vote for us or you're going to 'lose' money/'FREE stuff'/something!" kinda garbage. Why am I not surprised that these tactics work? Because the Dems get away with it, and KEEP getting elected by it!!

I've gotten a couple of calls like this from the "IRS"...yeah right...clearly a scam. My wife got one for her at her work! She's a LEO at the local Sheriffs Dept! They are bold, they accused her of defrauding her own country! LMAO. They didn't believe her when she said she was a Deputy Sheriff but as soon as she whispered "start tracing this call" they hung up!

I love getting calls from the guy in India that tells me I have problems with my Windows on my computer. I keep him going as long as I can to mess with him...I have all Apple stuff...no windows here. It's entertainment for me when these jerks call.

Hey, if Macintosh built a car, would it have windows?

Whatever
party you belong to, rest assured they too are using fear in their advertising to make them appear the wise choice.

I notice it didn't take long for the topic to wax political. :a13:

Honestly, it's like politics is the new religion everyone filters their bias through. I used to have an aunt who turned any topic to god and what the devil was doing to bring us all to ruin, and some of you political fanatics remind me of her.

Some observers have wisely pointed out that while we squabble over which political side is ruining the country the real culprits are laughing at us for falling for the clever diversion.

I was talking to the guy that owns the business next to the one I work at. He said he got a call the other day and someone asked to talk to John. John is his dad and has been dead for 6 years. He inquired as to the nature of the call? The caller said the he seen the jeep he had for sale on his website. Two red flags immediately for him, someone asking for his dad, who has passed away and his company doesn't have a website! Not to mention he has no Jeep for sale.
So he thanked the caller and called the local sheriff's office. Turns out someone has made a faux website using his company's name. They even have a picture of the business on it.
It has a phone number that isn't for his business and when you call it, the guy tells people to look for the car on Craigslist. I guess the caller found the correct number in the yellow pages and called.
The owner says he is working with the sheriff's office to get the site shut down. Meanwhile, he is very ticked off and hopes the perps get caught.

Oh Wow! Just 2 hours ago, one of the ladies I worked with got that call on her cell phone. She talked to the India guy too long wondering if it was real. When she said she wasn't even using her laptop, he asked is Saturday would be better, she said yes.

I asked her why she answer calls when the number isn't one of her contacts. I told her if they are legit, they'll leave a message, then you can save them to your contacts. She won't answer the call Saturday.
