You're asking if anyone has done something to a 17 year old bike??!! Yeah, it's been done Extreme??, Just go look through the Chromeless Cruiser thread below, his bike is pretty extreme. Guys have made custom frames for the bike, stretched front ends, custom built engines with big bore pistons, turbochargers even a supercharger. Anything you can think of, probably has been done. One thing you might try, adding a water cracker to make it run on hydrogen
The biggest problem you're going to run into is finding parts to do anything radical now. The aftermarket parts arena is drying up fast. You're going to have to fabricate a lot of your needed parts now where you could buy them ready to go 10 years ago

As a newbie here, not sure how "Darkside" got its name. But it does not matter.
Anyway, do most riders just do the rear, or the front, or both.
From what I gather, going darkside is supposed to improve road feel and improved handling...
If that was the case, why are tires designed...
Recently I have been riding after dark a lot and felt that the bike needed more light in the rear. I have a strobing brake light, but the LED taillight strip in the 1800F is not very big and not very bright.
I bought these lights through Amazon and they are constructed quite well and...
Hidden hitch, inside the fender.
Took the fender off and disconnected the tail light wires.
The previous owner had installed a signal light buzzer, and used these .
Don't use them even if it's convenient.
The wires are frayed, and will cause problems from vibration.
