I just moved from kauai after living there for 8 years. I know there is more of everything on Oahu than Kauai, but the best deal anywhere, and where I boght almost everything if I could: the internet! Even after shippng, most stuff was cheaper online.

 

I don't know who carries Avons in Hawaii, if anybody, your selection of brands will be somewhat limited, as far as places I've dealt with that I liked:

Cycle Tech near UH Manoa (on King St. across from times or star market, I forget which) is the only place I'll go to have my bike worked on get tires etc. That's because the mechanic, Alvin, has always been good to me and good to work with, always has a deal on tires, might be bridgestones, might be metzler's but he'll have something.

Cycle Sports in Iwilei (near Dole Cannery and K-mart), is also a good place, they're really a Suzuki dealer, but I've always had good experience with them and would take my bike there if I couldn't go to cycle tech.

I highly recommend staying away from South Seas Honda. I've had more bad experience there than I care to remember. If I need to go to the dealer, I'll drive the extra distance to go to Waipahu instead, much better crew there.

If you want to mail order your Avon's, I'd help you change them, if you don't know how, but I won't be back till August 13th. (I'd help you go to the darkside to, if you want, which is what I did with my Shadow in Hawaii, and will do with my X when I change tires). Might cost you a 6-pack though...
