I gotta say.... I'm thankful for the old how to videos of youtube and all the endless knowledge of this forum.... I cant tell you how many videos I've watched or how many posts Ive dug through on the VTX late into the night.... I haven't been a member on here for more then a few days but I've been digging around all winter, the things I've learned! I honestly dont know how it was done back in the day.... I could only imagine the level of frustrations I would be facing if it wasnt for the step by step instructions or a handy how too video....dont get me wrong...I could read a manual but seeing it and having it described by someone who's been there and done that is priceless! Not to mention the things that arnt covered and have to be learned first hand....I'm extremely grateful and cant kiss enough ass to the knowledgeable contributors on this forum!

Welcome...

should have tired to learn motorcycle wrenching.. in the 1960's...
no videos, no internet, dealers do not provide any information...
pre 1967.. no service manuals in English..

and you were very lucky..
if you had a local cycle wrencher that would talk to you..

as 90 percent of motorcycles were Harley's...maybe a few from England

remember Honda and the other Japan bikes arrived in the USA about 1963...
Honda cars in 1972...
Honda Civic in 1974... I had one.. New.

That's exactly what I mean....I would be lost without it..... I'm not all that great of a wrencher by any means, I do feel lucky to have resources like this! Plus the help of a very good friend here in my small home town, I have to give him credit too, I begged him for years to teach me how to ride and finally that gruff old goat showed up one day with some little dirt bike and basicly said today's the day kid..... I dumped that thing in the field and he laughed for days! I STILL ride with that old man, he came with me to pick up my VTX and did the majority of the haggling! Hahaha only complaint is he stops just about every 20miles for a smoke break! But I couldn't be more grateful to have him share is knowledge.....and garage

One of the reasons that I bought the VTX 1800 was because of all of the YouTube videos and how much people love the bike....
