I have de-baffeled bigshots and they are awesome. A little bit louder. They did seem to get a bit more tingy with the sound. They sound great but if you already have them installed don't waste the time to take them off and reinstall them. There isn't that much of a difference.

ive been wondering this for a long time now. when i bought my bike the dealer said they had heard both ways and baffles in was the best sound. I understand best to him may be diff. than what i like but i want it as loud as possible but still with a decent sound. Seems like too much trouble to take the entire exhaust off just to see but i might end up trying it this weekend

I've got the Vance and Hines Bigshots on my VTX 1300C without the quiet baffles and I'm pleased with both the volume and the tone.
When you say that do you mean your C has the baffles that came with the Bigshots and you didnt change them to a quieter baffle or did you actually remove the baffle completely? supposedly the Retro has a quieter baffle compared to the C model.

Thanks for the replys guy, I would like like mine a little louder but it dosen't sound like its worth taking off the exhaust. If anyone has a sound recording of the pipes without the baffles please post it.

Just a thought, Vance & Hines recomends that either the original baffles or the quiet baffles be installed in the big shots. The Engine needs the back pressure they provide.

I bought the Vance and Hines Bigshots from HDL. I ordered the quiet baffles as well; but, I never installed them as I like the sound of the pipes as they came.

I have the Big Shots with the standard baffle and it's plenty loud, if I were a wrench I would install the quiet baffles but when I talked to the V & H rep it would only reduce sound by 3 decibels but a little more mellow. I may have them installed this winter.

+1 - - - plus all it will sound like is louder - - - not better... the baffles give it back pressure as well as an entirely different note than straight pipes... I have a friend with an 1800 VHBS no baffles and it's a loud sound - - - very blended almost like a 2-1 sound... I've only heard it on mine for a brief moment without baffles... had the stock baffles then took off and went with quiet baffles... the stock baffles are loud and deep... the quiets are deeper but not as loud.... they're growing on me especially for long distance rides...

if all you want is to have LOUD PIPES, buy the cheapest pipes you can and remove the baffles - - - they will all pretty much sound the same at that point...

good luck!
