A guy here at work (not really a friend, just aquaintance) also has a VTX. He brought it in the other day and I noticed the valves were ticking badly. When I asked about he revealed that he had done the valve adjustment. When I asked what he set them to he said; .013" intake, .005" exhaust. I told him that was backwards and that's why the intakes are making so much noise. He realized that he had made a mistake and is fearful he may have damaged the exhaust valves. I asked how far he had rode it like that and he said less than 100 miles. I assured him that as long as he corrects it when he gets home(only a 30 mile trip) it'll be fine, he wants to take it to a dealer. I told him they will definitely find something wrong. He had no knowledge of this site (he does now) so I told him I would post this to aleave his fears, and print out the responses for him. So, do you agree with me? That as long as they are readjusted correctly he'll be fine.
