Referencing the Virginia scenic byways map, from Williamsburg we rode eastward on the Colonial National Historic Parkway, then south on HWY 17, then south-westward on SR 40, then south on HWY 1 (Old King's HWY), then due west on SR 615, SR 707, HWY 58, and then finally on SR 49 towards home. There's elevation along that route which makes southward visibility particularly good—overlooking a large lake along SR 615. It was a very nice ride, even with remnants of snow and ice on the sides of the road. Dogs chased the tires on one of the smaller state roads! Here's a link to the map ordering website:

Enjoy!
