Hi all X riders,

I just purchased a 2004 VTX 1300c with 4800 miles on it. I love the bike and have already put 300 miles on it in a weeks riding. The bike has just developed a small coolant leak between the cylenders and I was wanting to know if anyone else has had this problem too and if so what was causing the leak. I am hoping it is not a head gasket problem. Is the VTX series know to have head gasket problems? Any ideas? :(

I had the same problem. Pull left side spark plug covers and check the clamps on the coolant hoses. Mine leaked from the top of front cylinder. I started the bike and let it run until it leaked and then just tightened it up. Good luck

+1 on checking hose clamps.

It might be wise to get under there and snug up ALL the hoseclamps you can find.

On a brand new 06 VTX 1300R I found a couple that, though not leaking I felt could be tightened up.

I had the same problem with a brand new 06. +1 on getting in there and tightening up every clamp you can find. Mine ended up being a hose up behind the thermostat assembly. You may need to lift up the tank to see them well.
