VTX1800-F to VTX1800-S/R exhaust question

came across some BUB Jug Huggers for sale, great price, but they are off of a -F model... my bike is an -S... anyone know if these are usable on my bike?

I do know the differences, -F have foot pegs and exhaust is routed straight down, -S/R have floorboards and exhaust goes forward & sweeps back... I'm just looking to see if anyone knows if these will actually clear everything...

thanks...

No, they will not bolt straight up. You will need to grind some of the floorboard mount away for clearance there and you will need the R model exhaust bracket if those pipes use the OEM bracket

oh, its just grinding away some of the mount? I could live with that... the bracket is more than 1/4in thick and needs to be painted anyway, lol...

the guy selling is providing a bracket to hold the rear, I'm assuming it fits the -F model, neither of us know if it will fit my -S directly...
R/S/F/N use same rear bracket. I had R model Bubs on my F for years.

C is the only model with a different bracket as it had 2 into 1 mufflers so the bracket is shorter.

18455-MCV-R10 is the bracket part number. if you need one, I have a couple in my inventory, one OEM and one I had powder coated black. OEM one you can have for the cost of shipping, the PC one I would want at least the $75 (plus shipping) I paid for the stripping and powder coating.

I put Freedom Performance pipes on my F when I rebuilt it, and they have their own specific bracket.

as with most in life, a fine balance between the needs and wants... I am still trying to make the decision on the pipes... got a broken exhaust bolt I'm trying to remove, just one that broke...

That sucks. I was curious to hear your progress as well. There have been a few posts lately of broken bolts. Makes me want to spend an hour or so going around the bike unscrewing, antiseizinh, screwing back in. Hope you make progress soon.

If you do that, take the time to run a 'chaser' tap through the receiver to ensure a smooth tightening. Individual taps come in 3's, a 'first, taper cut, a second cut, and a finish, or bottom 'chaser' tap for a perfect threaded hole.
