See what you guys think. Its a little rough in places, (the compositing on the arch mostly) but it was all I had time to do today. Heres 3 versions, I kinda prefer the first one. I tried to avoid all the usual VTX stuff thats been done to death, (the mask) and give it a Utah flavor.

The first one looks best to me. Are we planning on having a page for email addresses and phone numbers of Utah VTX riders?

I think that that would be nice but, remember some people do not want to have there numbers all over the world let alone there address. If we were to do this it would have to be secured some how to only members of our group. I'm not sure if this would be a good thing JMHO.

It would be nice to have a list of contact info.
We could secure it with a member login, but like everything on the web it would not be totaly secure....could leave it up to each person to decide on listing their info.

KEWL Art!

You've pretty much got them in the order that I'd choose. I love the texture of the first one's lettering. Only a couple small questions.

1. I'm assuming we're not looking at a patch that woudl be square/rectangle, can this be rounded enough for an oval patch?

2. I'd say take out the highway 89 sign and leave the seagull. It's a little busy with both, but that's my never humble opinion.

3. Any copyright issues in using the photos of the arch, background, or gull? So long as these aren't from another website or from someone who would object ... especially since it's being used for a club/group, then we're probably alright.

4. On the issue of listing addresses, phone, etc., I'm okay with it, so long as the information is restricted somehow to members only. Maybe a simple password system (you can see one I did on my website for family photos, but it's not a real complicated one). It would be nice for locals to be able to contact other members who are listed esepcially as we travel around the state from time to time.

5. Another thought on the patch, how about the arch on one side with one of the larger "Alpine" type mountains (maybe along the Wasatch front) on the other with the road in between. That'd show the variety of mountain and range.

Okay, that's it for now ... I'm not an artist (as most critics aren't really appreciated  ) so I'm gonna finish by saying that I like the first one either way you decide to go.

Nice #1 -2

Nice work man. I like the first two. The lighter brown doesn't do it for me.The gull/sign is nice but looks a bit clustered. I real like your art work and ideas. GOOD JOB! :D

Very nice. Those colors look great. I'd be willing to lend you my purty orange X to photograph so you could get rid of the pic of that C models front end; really tacky dude IMHO.
Heh, heh, heh  Really great work, seriously.

1. It could be rounded off to an oval. But then again, EVERYone does an oval patch

2. No copyright problems. They are all legally purchased stock images.

3. The reason I didnt put regular mountiains in there, is that they tend to have a very cold feel to them. Blues and greys etc. I wanted to keep it very warm, as we dont go riding in winter.

4. Listing of numbers etc. I would vote no on phone numbers, yes on emails. I wont spell out the text of the email addressed on the page, just have a guys name that links to an email. That helps cut down on webcrawlers picking up the address for spam usage.

5. Theres still a bit of work to be done to it, I just ran out of time and wanted to gauge reaction.

I would think so. Just depends on how busy I am at any given time, you know how that goes Lewis :).

But I should be able to get it done. We all just need to work out WHAT we want on there.

Again, that's really great work. The images look super nice - I think this is gonna be reeeal good for our group. Hey, ww1flyingace, I see that you are a watcher of fine movies; anybody that can quote Monty Python verbatum must be . . . well . . . cool or something :mcrider:

True ... true ... just guess I haven't noticed too many square/rectangle of that nature ... but then again I guess I'm no expert on patches.

Good. I know it may sound silly to worry about that, but I'd hate for anyone to get in hot water over a patch.

Got you. See ... I knew there was a reason God didn't give me any artistic talent. Now that I read what you're saying I can see the patches with the blue/darks of the mountains and that would be "cool" rather than a "warm" patch. Okay ... so let's stick with it the way it is.

Another idea is to simply list personal home pages and then the user can warp there for personal information. I don't have my home phone on my personal home page, but I do have work information, etc., so folks can pretty much figure out the rest.

I also agree that the webcrawlers are getting to be a real pain in the patoot. I'm so tired of reading about Viagra (and all of its various ways of being spelled) or new mortgages.

Looks great. I can't imagine how much better you'll make it if you think there's more work to do. Have fun with it and let me know if I can help with any of the website maintenance.

Ha doc_cj I did a little dallying with a idea I had. I put some thoughts on paper for a patch/site. I gave it to Paul last sunday. If you have some computer skills it needs some photo shop work and it would look great for a patch. It has some of the same ideas as yours. (Ut Arches) It also has some flames with rides inside and reflects off the X in the background. If you would like pm paul, and ask him to sent a copy or somthing. :) just a thought.

Patch shape idea. Again, the artwork would need some adjusting to fit the shape of the patch, (make the arc of the type match the bottom arc of the patch shape) but it beats the same ol oval shape...?

Ya gotta remember, I would have to create a version specifically for the patch. They cant sew photos.
