Somewhere during the process of rebuilding my bike I think I crossed a wire. Every time I turn my left turn signal on my headlight blinks. When I turn my headlight on bright my left turn signal lights solid (no flashing). The right turn signal works fine. I was thinking it may be something in the left/turn signal handlebar switch. However, I noticed whenever I turn the left turn signal on and the headlight flashes oncoming cars slow down and a few have even waved me to go ahead and turn. Now I am thinking this might not be a bad safety feature if it gets cagers attention.

Any of you ever experienced this problem and if so what was the cause? And since it seems to be beneficial would you worry about tracking down the problem and fixing it?

A bad earth/ground is your first option to inspect, then crossed wires, then the bulbs, but if you have LED lights front or rear, they can also cause problems.
Crossed wired is a terminology that's confusing since all wires are insulated, maybe a pinched wire is more appropriate?

Also, I would worry about the headlamp flashing even if it does seem beneficial, & you won't pass your next inspection with it that way either!

You want a flashy headlight, buy a headlight modulator
Just from a Brit standpoint........
"I have never in my life ever seen anything as ridiculous looking as those bloody irritating flashing headlamps!"

There, I feel better now that's off my chest!!! :wink2:

Left TS is solid Orange.
HL high beam is solid Blue.
Green Ground wire from 6 pin Blue connector goes to HL and has a splice to TS bullet connectors.
I think the Ground is good.
Did you change handlebars and splice wires to extend the wiring???

Regarding flashers versus modulators:
I have seen flashers where headlight went completely dim==not legal but cheap.
Modulators have a 17% drop in illumination(I believe that was the figure), so only slight dimming.

Yep I changed the bars and spliced and extended the wires to run them through the bars. So if I cannot track it down I may need to pull the bars over winter and check them out. Hopefully it's something in the headlight wiring... I really hate re-wiring the handlebars:crying:

You said>>>Every time I turn my left turn signal on my headlight blinks.

Verify>> Left TS causes headlight High beam to flash.

If the above is true then two wires are transposed.
Cut the HL Hi beam and left TS and transpose them again.
Two wrongs can make it right again.
Function trumps over wire color...

Thanks for the suggestion. When I break it down for winter maintenance I'll go back through the wires and straighten it out.

Speaking of modulators, Ive had one on my bike since new (10 years) , may just be the luck of the draw, but have never had anybody turn in front of me...for those that don't like them , that means its doing its job...good luck
