7 months. $1,500 over budget and some stress due to a flaky painter. But she’s done finally.

Your bars are really busy, but you did a great job making it work. I'm not sure I could have packaged it that cleanly. Kudos my brother.

I really love it! Seriously, great job brother!
tire pressure monitor. Voltage meter and accessory buttons for the led lights and air suspension.

The black bars are for mounting stuff like a gps or phone. So I don’t scratch the bars themselves, with the speaker nothing else fits.

Outstanding! the only nit I wanna pick is the differential looks plain compared to the rest. Otherwise, very nice! Go embarrass some HD’s now. lol

100% agreed, and I have a new final drive in black, but not putting it on until I have to change the tires, don't want to disassemble the rear twice.

I also have to find some highway pegs, the ones I put on originally I decided i didn't like the look.

I have the original pad for the sissy bar from kuryakyn, imo it is cheap looking, made of the same type of plastic that they use for car dash panels.

I sent it to the guy that made my tank bib, he is wrapping it in leather to match the bib. same piping, no X logo though.

the voltage meter bracket is just a piece of metal I cut into an "L" shape, lined it up on the clutch MC mounting bolt holes, put some small spacers into the holes on the MC bracket to make it sit flat against the bracket and got some 6mm longer screws to hold it.

Used automotive 3m double sided tape from meter to the bracket, same type of tape used to hold front spoilers on cars, you heat this stuff to 140 or hotter with a heat gun and it sticks like superglue, it will break the voltage meter before it comes off.

Bike looks great. Im a huge fan of those pipes. Its making me not enjoy my cobras as much haha.
I looked long and hard for pipes, unfortunately the stupid CA CAFE standards make it impossible to get pipes here, no way to hear them or see them in person because they are illegal to sell here, so is the Dynojet PC5.

I heard a couple of yotube videos on these and the Freedom performance single they make, these IMO went better with design I had in my head, but the single sounds better.

had to have a lot of stuff like the tuner, pipes, O2 eliminator kid, etc, all mailed to my family in TN and pay shipping a second time to have it forwarded to me here in CA, because no one will ship that stuff direct to CA

Can't say I have ever witnessed a handicap license plate on a cycle.
Nice job on the X, crossover tube in the pipes?
no cross over tube.

CA has a funny law, if you have any type of extremity replacement or amputation you are required to have disabled plates on all your registered vehicles. I also have the parking plaque to use when I am a passenger, but all vehicles registered to me have to have the plates.

replacement knee and hip from a motorcycle accident in 2001.

Even the people at the DMV said they had never seen a motorcycle disabled plate before, or even knew how to issue one when I had to get it replaced after the accident last October. I've had that since I got the bike in 2005.

would personally prefer the newer Black CA plates to match the ride, but. I can't get one due to my injuries.

Flaky painter? I saw what you did there. :D

Great job Sir. I like it. A lot. Tastefully and cleverly done. Enjoy every ride!
yeah this dude had every excuse in the book why his "should be done in 3 weeks" took nearly 7 months.

Bike looks awesome! Can you make a list of all the custom components with links? What model did the mike start life as?
2005 1800 F2

I can make a list, and list some of the parts, but there are many that are one-offs that I made myself or had made for me. no links to provide.

There are also a lot of parts that are no longer made, stuff I bought back in 2005-2007 and the companies have gone out of business or discontinued VTX parts.

Nice dude. I saw your post in a VTXOA email and decided to check it out and post pics of mine that I painted and suggest you could probably accomplish the paint job yourself. Until I saw the blue 3D smoke which the applier is not just a paint/body man, they gotta be an actual artest and able to airbrush, LoL!!! I've got my tank & fenders off again, I'm gonna repaint them with ghost POW/MIA emble
my father always taught me that there isn't anything I can't learn, therefore there isn't anything I can't do. and for the most part I follow that throughout my life.

however

I can't paint, I suck at it - badly- so I don't even try.

I'm fine with a roller and a brush on a house. but I can't paint with a sprayer or rattle can, believe me I have tried many times over the years and I have learned it is just a skill set I don't have.

I'm 50 and it took me until about 10 years ago to just be able to do what I did to mine!!! LoL It was harder making the mounts and painting my replacement turn signals than fixing the dents and painting tank/fenders!!!
same age as me.

my X was in storage from 2007 until Feb 2021, single dad, couldn't risk another motorcycle accident, so it got stored. my daughter is 17 now, and she's the one that gave the back back to me, pulled it out of storage and paid to get it up and running for me (tire, fuel pump, injectors, oil change, battery, etc). she knew I gave it up for her, and she decided it was time for dad to get back on it.

of course she had a motive to do so. she wants to learn to ride.

Mate this is stunning there’s nothing on this bike I don’t like, love the paint the only other thing I would do is a 8 degree rake on the forks, is your rear tyre 200 mm only it looks bigger in the picture, I’ve got a mint 2008 vtx-1800 f1 that’s pretty mint but wanted to do a full custom job on but I can’t get the bits I need in the uk View attachment 203837

rear is a 240. rake kit isn't an option with the fat fork tubes I have. prefer the fat fork covers over the rake.

My VTX caught on fire about a month ago. But anyway I got on here to ask people if I should build mine into a bobber or what?? Man as soon as I opened up the Forum your badass bike is on here!!!! Nice job!!!! The ONLY thing I can say I would change is the foot pegs.. But man it's one of the NICEST bikes I have seen!! Hands down!!!!
pegs are not really an option at this point. those are Supreme Legends forward controls and Supreme Legends went out of business during covid. as far as I can tell they used proprietary peg mounts. I have tried several styles, and nothing properly fits or works.

They are "supposed" to be Harley pegs mounts, but that leaves a wide-open door, because as far as I can tell depending on the year and model the peg mount points are different. I have found several knock off Supreme Legends controls on ebay and alibaba, I purchased a set for a Dyna so I would have some spare parts (Master Cylinder, shifter arm, brake arms etc) because they are all the same parts, only difference is the mounting bracket, and those pegs will work but they are all the same design/style as what I have.

I used to have Kuryakyn Switchblade pegs, which are really comfortable, but again, don't fit.

Dont ever leave it parked where you cant see it.
rarely ever do, however if it happens, it has 2 different GPS tracking modules on it, keyless ignition and electronic disabler on it, and a module that sends an alert to my phone if it is messed with, moved, or started..

Yes sir!! Keep her safe!!!! Beautiful bike!! I understand about what you mean about the pegs!! I am not saying I could do any better!!!! It's just a well done bike.. It seems like it should have more of something for you the rider for comfort and style at the bottom.. But I completely understand what you said!! I am about to start cutting on mine!! I HAVE to do something to her!!!! Just so blah and boring!!!!
these pegs are actually very comfortable. personally, like having something to rest my heel on, but not a fan of floorboards, hence the use of stir-ups/switchblade pegs. . . But I have done 200+ miles twice with these and no issue, they are in a perfect position for me, and work well.
