Ok first I did search. I have a 1800 N and am trying to replace the rear lights so I can install my RTB controller.
I thought that the rears are 1156's but the side pins on the stock bulbs and housings are off set just a bit so that the replacement's dont fit.
Can anyone give me a little help with this one?
Thanks
Chad

Ok that sounds familiar having owned a VFR and dealing with the "only our headlamps fit". Any options to get red bulbs in there?

Honda does'nt make lightbulbs. Someone makes them for Honda. Get out there on the internet, there are lots of huge lamp and bulb houses. You can probably buy a case of 'em for what a pair will cost at a Dealer.

Yep, been through this one before. It is a proprietary Honda lamp. I, as have many others with GoldWings, have searched the net and last I heard, you can't buy them from anyone other than a Honda dealer

I doubt you will find it much cheaper unless you buy a large qty.
The bulb's metal base has
PY21W STANLEY 12V
The base is BAU15s

ok here's the deal:

these bulbs are not HONDA proprietary.

what they are however is Euro specific.

These are the bulbs that are used (possibly required) in the UK and several parts of Europe in White rear signals that flash Amber. or White rear Lights that use RED bulbs for brake and tail, in lue of a red lense with a clear bulb.

There are several manufactures that make them in LED form (amber and red)

but they are based in the UK and China. nothing Stateside that my source knows about.

Tried the 1156's super bright LED's from auto zone, but again the problem is the "ears" on a standard bulb are directly opposite each other, the stock ones are slightly off set.

The paint to use to spray paint your bulbs is

Testors #1605 Candy Red Transparent.

It is available in the toys/hobbies section of Walmart next to the
model cars and model airplane kits,
or at better hobby shops everywhere.

It comes in a very small 3 ounce spray can.

I replaced the rear sockets with 1157's on my 05 1800C. Tapped into the licence plate light for the run filaments and installed red 1157's.

As far as painting, paint the bulbs? Or paint the lenses?
Whichever that you think would look best for your bike.
Some guys like clear lenses.
Other guys (especially riders of Candy Red Bikes)
like red lenses to better match their bikes.
