I’m most likely being an a-hole with the whole ignore thing...and no offense to any....but sure cuts down the clutter.....rather than put someone on ignore..my choice of filter would be only when a political post is made in a non-political thread...ignore the individual post ,not the individual...cause later on they might have someThing. constructive to say...lol....yeah right...

Let’s frame the whole question differently. Personally, I did not bother to vote in the poll because of the douchebag way in which the options were worded. But here is an analogy that might apply:

Let’s say the VTXOA is a magazine rack. Each thread is an individual magazine, and the cover of the mag and the title offers you an idea of its content. So, there might be some magazine covers you just don’t want to see. For instance, maybe the gay porn has no interest to you. Or maybe wide open beaver shots are a bit crude for your taste. Are you somehow a crybaby snowflake just for asking the guy running the magazine rack “Isn’t there a way to help me avoid even seeing that crap?”

Is a theoretical response of “Hey, if you don’t like OhioHomos, just don’t pick it up” an adequate answer? The guy who was asking not to see the X-rated content wasn’t trying to block access of others to such materials, he was only trying to limit his own exposure. It’s not an unreasonable request, even if BOP did formulate his poll like a tool.
I understand what you mean but I don't think the request of the OP is real but just a way to stimulate our senses.
How else do you explain that he is a regular contributor to the Hot Box himself with 29 posts of his last 100?
Or is he so good-hearted that he is asking this for others?

I think the question should be addressed on its own merits. It doesn’t really matter what BOP’s motives were for asking. After all, a recent newbie made an observation that our board has too much politics, and maybe that perception was partially formed by seeing political thread titles in the What’s New listing.

No argument there, but he should have to ask nice. It's just common courtesy when you are getting something for free.

There are not that many different forums on this board. And I'd venture to say that most here only regularly visit a select few. So with that in mind, you do realize don't you HOP that the "What's New" feature is itself optional right?
Maybe the fact that I keep a browser window dedicated to VTXOA and multiple tabs open on it for each of the forums I regularly watch and/or participate in makes this concern seem a little puzzling (though I do agree that the filter would be nice). So I check for the posts at the top of each tab, removing the need to use the What's New feature. If I didn't want to see what was going on in the Hotbox I would simply not keep a tab open for that forum. So there is a viable option for those that you are concerned about, enabling them to skip the Hotbox topics as they peruse those that the do find of interest. And it only takes a few seconds to hop between all the open tabs and check what's going on in each forum, by simply seeing what has floated to the top of each tab.
The quickest way to keep up with new posts is to open What's New. It's well established here BY THE ADMINS, that Political and Hot Box topics are not welcome anywhere but in the Hot Box. It seems a glaring oversight then to this web site's intentions to force people to read or sort though Politically charged or controversial headings from new Hot Box posts any time they want to easily see new posts.

Suggesting members not use the What's New if they don't like seeing Hot Box topics is a lame 'fix' for what is obviously broken on this site. We've already had at least one new member complain about how many political posts are on this site and long time member (like myself) are also expressing that Hot Box political posts are polluting this place.

Thanks for pointing out my Hot Box membership and activity there. It should illustrate that I'm not in any way trying to block anyone's freedoms here to access that forum. My original post here is clear in regard to my intent and that is simply to give Hot Box members and also non-member a choice to not see new Hot Box posts listed in What's New, as it has already been demonstrated to bother both new and old members seeing them there.

My request if very 'real'.

Here's my one thought [and it should appeal to the most rabid sports fans, tho' I'll go with football]-

I don't care how much one loves the Pats, and how much one loves watching them trounce NY. If every time the t.v. comes on and its NE v. NY, like seriously who wants to watch a full season of those two....and here's a thought...each team has an offensive line & a defensive line. But when the offense takes the field it's not like they're thinking "fuck the defense," and vice versa...

I'm assuming the desire to win is a common goal. And, yes Bill is a "my way or the highway" kind of coach. But he has an offensive, defensive and special team coordinator who he presumably respects & expects to do their jobs. PS even he answers to the owner.

Feel me?

lol

I think the magazine you're thinking of/referencing is actually called "Gay Gators", but I still get your point in the overall post.

I’m glad you got the humor. I had you in mind when I wrote that, buddy. In retaliation for your frequent although feeble efforts to smear my fine Reptiles. :D

And I’m sure you never really buy your copies of OhioHomos at a magazine stand. Seems more likely that you have still got your charter subscription.

I'm just reading along in this thread and come across a nice dud post with a magazine stand analogy and "BAM!!!" right at the end. Got me right in the safe space.

That was a good one. I did lol literally.

Look guys, I believe we give House of Pancakes too much of our valuable time with our responses. I am as guilty as anyone. He Posted several inaccurate statements about me and hasn't responded when I asked for proof of his statements.
In other words he lied.
I guess my point is that I often give him credibility when he deserves none.
That's my bad and I will try not to let it happen again.

I suggest we keep personal feelings and quarrels out of this generic discussion.
We should be discussing the benefit of the suggestion instead.
Regardless of who worded what how, the request is valid and could stand some looking into.
Admins, is that even a possibility with this SW we're running now?

I am the "Newbie" mentioned at the beginning of the post that started this with a post titled "Politics". As I stated in that post; there is a place for politics and those comments should be kept to that forum. Another member sent me some information on how to fine tune what I see and that worked perfectly for me, end of story.
Regarding what HOP is proposing is that it doesn't seem to matter to the members of VTXOA. 12/21 (57%) people who have posted bothered to vote and 12/1,000 who have visited this thread voted (1.2% and I know some have been here multiple times so the % is actually higher). No offence to anyone but IMO the matter is settled and lets move on as this thread is turning into a pi$%ing match between a few.

You give yourself too much credit. I couldn't care less about your giving me credit or not as frankly, I lost respect for your input years ago. In this case you made a comment to which I made an observation about how you made my point. I have zero obligation to defend my opinions to you, even if they are about something you wrote. Not defending my opinion isn't a "lie" and implying I'm a liar is a perfect example of why I have no respect for your input and why I often haven't bothered answering you.

But.... have a nice day! :)
Well darn. I believe you just bothered to answer me.
Thank you I am having a great day.

For the benefit of the thread topic I just deleted my former comment. How about you do the same?
