Dunlop is the only manufacturer that makes the front in a whitewall. Dunlop and Metzeler make the rear. I bought my set about a month ago from J&P Cycles.

There's a shop in the North Seattle area that has Dunlops at half price if you have them mount & balance them! And their mount & balance is only $25 a wheel.

Not a bad deal!

Well, okay, it's not a bad deal if you live in the North Seattle (Lynnwood) area, and happen to need a set of Dunlops.

How do you make the rear but not the front?!
Metzler makes a rear whitewall that will fit the VTX, but the corresponding front for that rear is the wrong size. They just don't make a front whitewall that fits.

And yes, they've been asked. Their standard reply is that they don't see enough market interest to invest in making a front whitewall in the size we need.

So, if you want whitewalls you only have two choices:

Dunlops,
Or Metzler, and the infamous whitewall paint. (I hear it's actually pretty good stuff!).

From what I hear, the Metzlers don't give any better mileage, but they do report to handle better. Dunno how true that is, I've never run them (on this bike).
