won't start, clicking clicking sound in fuse/relay area

trying to get my '04 1300c going. A week ago, i got it running with a jump rode for a while and stopped for gas and was able to barely get it started via the starter switch.

Now it will not start via the switch, and the starter motor will just barely turn and then there seems to not be enough juice and it just makes a clicking noise from the relay/fuse box area.

I have just performed the starter switch maintenance. The battery seems good, still no luck.

what would make the clicking sound? Is it just not getting enough juice from the battery?

thanks for any help

clicking

sounds like the starter is not getting enough juice
even though battery voltage might be up the amperage might be down
how old is battery if 3-4 years might be time for a new one

I agree. Sounds like your battery is losing it's ability to provide enough cranking power for the starter. I would check your grounds first. If they seem OK, I'd go with a new battery.

I think you guys are right...just finished checking all the battery contacts, ground etc.

it was on a battery tender, and the light was showing green (full charge) now it is yellow, (charging). I have a feeling there was a loose connection and the battery wasn't getting any juice. I'm going to let it charge over night, see if that helps. If not, I will replace battery.

thanks for the replies.

"Battery seems good" is not a good test. First thing is to have all wiring clean and snug. Second is to charge battery. Then start bike. If it still won't spin the starter, replace the battery. If it does start, get a voltage check to see that the alternator is putting out rated voltage. If it dies overnight, replace the battery.

If this is three or more seasons given it was dead Id just replace it and thus not have to worry if it was gonna start everytime you shut it off for gas a meal or just visiting at a friends house. not much more agravating than having to take your bike apart to get a jump.
