Hello all. I am not sure if this has been asked before, but I was wondering is there any kind of Fuel Additive to clean your Carburetor that one can add to your gas on your VTX, just like you do on your car?? Thanks in advance.

I use star tron on a regularly, it combats problems ethonal causes. You can get it at Walmart in the boating section and a small bottle will treat 128 gallons.
Before I put it away for the winter I'll put seafoam in with the gas only, not in the crank case and just run it in the spring before I fill the tank again.

If you run additive all the time it will lower the octaine ,,, noticeable loss in power.
I only use Seafoam and only when I have to put my bike in for 6 mo winter storage and not for the rideing seasons.

I always used Techron in the tank early in the season, after running a couple of tanks of gas through. I never had carburetor problems of any kind. I would change the oil and filter after my last ride for the season, and add Seafoam to the gas tank only.

I use stabil in all my winter stored engines over the winter.Have had good luck for 40 years. I know the sea foam is good ,alot of guys use it.My tank gets taken off and dried ,stored in a heated area all winter, along with the vinyle seats/backrests...I run the bike out of treated gas, drain carb and add some fogging oil in the fuel line to coat the inlet needle and seat and fill the carb with it... Its sound like overkill but thats the way we do boat engines and it works well.

Stabil treats the gas only. I believe.
Seafoam treats the gas and also the walls in the carb. Running the bike of gas may not be the best thing to do because you defeat the purpose of protecting the inner walks and jets oxidation.
I live in colder climate than you do and my bike is kept in a cold garage. I place 4oz of Seafoam in a full tank of gas and ride it around the block then shut it off and place a battery tender on it and don't touch it until spring - NO Monthly starting ... Not good to do.
I would not remove the seat , just don't sit on it in cold weather or it can crack.

 Star Tron and Shell gas. Can't tell you why but I know my bike seems to run much better when I use it. I don't always use the Star Tron on every fill up because I ride almost daily year round. I use mid-grade but the book says 86 or higher and I haven't noticed any significant difference between grades.

Anyway that's what I was advised to do by the previous owner and I continued.

So I went ahead and I bought me a bottle of Techron. I will be putting it into my bike soon and hopefully it will clean her up nicely. Thanks to all of you for your help and advice, I greatly appreciate it.
