sissybar and bag

I like the sissybar and bag look. I had saddlebags on my 1800 and the wife didn't like them made it to hard for her to get on the bike. but they do come in handy sometimes. and they get ruff look'en from the weather if ya don't oil them offten. well good luck in your choise.

I have both. Passengers enjoy the sissybar and I use it to quickly strap my pack on for work in the a.m.'s. I also have the saddlebags with easybrackets. That way I can hall whatever I want when I want or take them off without a hassle. I like being able to have different looks and like you said, " I dont want bags that are too bulky,
i'm looking for something that doesnt take the lean, mean look away from my C. " I totally agree. :mcrider:

 

If you do alot of 2 up riding I would get the sissy bar...makes the passenger feel more secure and you wont get as tired from the passenger holding on all day.Not that holding on is a bad thing :wink:

I have the sissy bar and a rack with a large set of bags. My setup is easy to use and the bag is easy to strap on and will haul enough stuff for 2 people for 3 days easily The thing I like about a bag is when you get to a motel you take it off and cary it in where with bags they are out on the bike. The only time my bags are on my bike is when we travel for a couple of days the rack is nice for a small cooler to go to the races and cary a six pack or two all you need is a bunge or two and I use a small gardners knee pad to put under the cooler to cushion it from the chrome. Like I say I like the t bags because they dont interfear with cleaning up the bike all the time like a set of saddle bags. and I also have a bunge net that will strap a box or helmet or whatever to the rack whenever I need it.

 

I went through this process about a year ago, I was very concerned with maintaining a certain 'look' to my scoot. So, I purchased a Corbin rumble seat as I really didn't want bags or a sissy bar. When the need arises I flip up the back rest for a passenger or throw a bag on it (with the bag resting on the passenger seat).

 

Get a National Cycle Paladin Quil-set backrest... You can pop it on or off in about a minute. It has a key lock to keep it on the bike. That way you'll have it when you need it and can take it off when you are just cruising.

 

I have been working on this for a long time and there is no easy way out.
Anything you add will take away from the "lean look" of a C, some more than others.
A sissy bar really takes away the "mean look", stops the flow of the design.
So with that in mind the best I could come up with so far is, LeatherLyke Saddlebags, easy on and off.

I think we all have different ideas of what looks good.....I think for overall utility, the sissybar and bag would be the way to go if you plan on any 2 up riding...

I have not seen a permanent storage idea that I like as of yet, and what it boils down to is I use a backpack in the mean time...

I personally go with the solo look unless there are boob in my back, so if I had to have something for storageI would probably get some quick release bags, and if you do carry passengers you can get adjustable pegs/wings/boards for them...

 

im more likely to stop someplace and pick up "whatever" at the store when the mood might strike, i dont like being without storage. And i dont like making two trips once im out and about. just the other day stopped for a movie"rental" and decided to pick up some pop and chips. well a 12 pack easilly fits in one bag and a large bag of chips almost dissapears in the other :lol: i can see where people like the bare look of no bags. but for practical purposes do you enjoy having to go home and get your cage just to go back to the store for that 12 pack? not to mention storage for trips etc. i have a lunch bag 'leather" insulated attaches to the sissy bar. its a very nice addition as it doesnt need to be bungeed . oh yea the sissy bars great too. wouldnt have a place for my lunch bag without one. :lol: the wifes not big on riding but you never know when you might pick up a stray :wink:
