hey what does everyone think about the hypercharger? I am looking to get one and want to know if its worth it. Looks alone will not be enough motivation for me to make the purchase, have you seen fuel mileage changes or had noticeable horsepower increases. Thanks guys!

I was going to get one also. Had a great deal by one of the guys on here. Asked around and a guy that builds bikes, said unless I was getting everything else...ie jet kit stage 3, power commander, things like that then why get it. If I want more HP get a bigger bike. That's money that could go for something else for the bike.

Just my thoughts

I have one and I like it! Bike runs great. I like the look of it, on the bike. No problems with my leg bumping it. No intake is really going to make any great of additional HP on these bikes. Some a bit more than others maybe, but all are 'just for looks' in my opinion.

thanks guys, you just saved me $200 of disappointment. I'll have to think of something else to do. like put the money toward next years insurance! unless if I can find one used on ebay for a considerably low price haha

I currently have the hypercharger and am going to replace it with BAK. I liked it, but being tall, I am tired of my knee banging against it. I am waiting for the weather to warm up before I change. I will be putting it up for sale on the board. Not sure how much.

all of the after market intakes gain you an amount of horsepower. H/C is like 3-5hp, Tornado's and BAK's will get you more, maybe 5-7hp. My point here is all of the aftermarket intakes are about the same power gain (to say, mild). What your really buying is a look, or a style.

If the H/C doesn't fit your style, than it doesn't matter if it's the best performing intake out there or not.

Buy what you LIKE the look of, the "performance" is going to be about the same for any of them.

Mine had one on it when I bought it. It was the first think I changed. I hated it! Went back to the stock air box and jets. It can be really uncomfortable on your leg!

I have one but it was on the bike when I got it. I like how it looks but I cant say if it helps with HP. If it wasn't on the bike I don't think I would have bought it.

Mine was there when I bought it. It was running rich. Tried everything. Even took it to have it dyno tuned. Runs great wide open. And my knee hits it all the time. I'm about to order a BAK. Installed one on a buddies bike and it runs perfect.

This is the story and the truth. You will find a lot on this board and its never kinda ok, they love them or hate them. Truth is I have friends that have them on VTX's as well as other bikes, same story. But truth is, their are moving parts on the intake, at some point they will wear or break, thats the fact, parts wear out, just like tires. I did a lot of looking and research before I got my Tornado, no moving parts, it don''t break or wear. That beside the look ( look could have gone the other way too, like the look of both) I like tinkering and do all my work, but I want as few moving parts as I can get. I got the Tornado. Andyou will hear people on here say they never had a problem, I'm glad. But at some point they will have to rebuild them. I took the less money and time to rebuild something an got one that has no moving parts. And I would be hard pressed to see it out perform my Tornado. They both suck in heavy rain. Just my take, what I have found out, Smitt

At least 4 people have it because it came with the bike when they bought it. I'm at least #5. I love the look! Is there any HP gain? Don't care. Did it get in the way of my leg? At first. Now, don't even know it's there. Like you said, if it's an appearance thing, you won't get one. Maybe get one that's used from members that changed them out? You'll always have buyers.

Any time you change the air fuel mixture their will me a change. I had mine dynoed and between the intake and the pipes I gainded 8. But their are other mods to do to gaine slightly more here and their. But it is a little here and their. Major HP increse will be major money. I just know how much I hated the way it ran when I got it. Pretty happy now. Smitt

I agree with a lot of the previous comments. Most alterations to your intake will produce some power increase, so you should buy what you like as far as looks. If you have a chance to sit on someone's bike with one installed that could give you an idea if it would be in your way. I had one on my '05 Aero, I liked the looks and it wasn't too difficult to get the carb dialed in. From what I've seen the most people complain about them are them being in the way of their leg (not everyone) and some have found them to be a little more difficult with dialing in the low to mid range on the throttle. Maybe it's their inherent shape or design with the moving butterflies, but I've helped with a few installations and compared to a striaight up open airbox like a BAK, they have been slightly more difficult to get done. Now if you're having a dealer install it then no headache for you. Just buy what you want!
