Hey guys got a friend who is torn between a vtx or a road star. We know the road star has a larger engine and is air cooled how about helping him decide.

I like both the same the star is a little slower off the line vs the x. I like the stars floor boards better the the X. But i like the way the star looks. I think yamhammer is coming out with some cool bikes wish honda would do the same as far as styles go... I would all in all go with the X if I had to choose again....my 45cents

VTX vs Road Star

well if he is thinking on a 1300 and the road star too much difference in size to compare BUT the belt still there...I dont like the belt thing issue...vibration, breakage I dont know to me, I just dont trust a belt. shaft more reliable and almost maintenance free!!!...my 2 cents

which one

Have most of the friends I ride with own stars. They are a nice bike but when it comes to looks at rides we have gone to most people make more comments on mine. ("05 1300C".) I reallllllly love the way my VTX handles more so than the stars. Had a chance to swap for a while on the three dam ride and made it 40 miles before I wanted my "C" back. Don't get me wrong, I love to ride and it usually doesn't matter what brand. I gave his star back and it had a really nice Mustang seat and mine was stock. All of you that complain about the stock seats need to change it (even the star riders do) To get a little more cush for your bum. I guess to sum this up I prefer my VTX. Ride safe and keep the tires down.

I would still pick my X again. My friend has a V-Star and it seems that the dual carbs get out of sync quite often. It was also a pain in the ass to adjust his shock setting since it's a single shock under the seat and tightly concealed therefore hard to get in there with a tool to turn. The one nice thing I do like about the Roadstars are the speedometers and guages. Looks really nice.... But a friend pointed out to me that he has to look down when he's riding to see his speed. Whereas on our X's we look more forward.

Personally...the main reason I like a bike is looks. That varies, then the rest of the package. There is a lot more real metal on the Road* and the engine has a lot nicer look to it with the pushrods and all. The belt drive is smoother than shaft. The midnight is finished out nicely in a lot of chrome. They are now coming with stainless cables standard. They have self canceling turn signals. There is a huge aftermarket support. Probable second next to Harley. So if you want to "customize it" tinker with the styling then that's a plus. Stock looks are bland to ugly.

The VTX engine is a better balance of torque and HP. The styling sets it apart much better. Lines flow better and looks much better overall. Less Harley copy than a Road*. The shaft requires less maintenance, but more throttle jacking. Water cooling is a big plus. seat height and balance are G-R-E-A-T!!! (said like tonny the tiger) Final drive hub is ugly. Lots of cheap plastic. From the front fender to almost all the chrome covers. slightly better ground clearance. odd ball 17"/ 15" tire size. Price is about 3 grand less if you work a good deal.

Both require large doses of chrome or powder coating once you ride for awhile. :D

I actually test rode BOTH the VStar and the X before I made my purchase choice.

Before I actually rode both bikes I had decided on the Star.

Then I test rode both of them and the X won me over with a feeling of incredible power and it just felt more comfortable to ride!

So I bought my 1300S!

Well, thay are both great bikes--you get a lot of bang for the buck.

Personally, I really like the way VTX looks and the way it feels--sitting position, top end feel (it doesnt feel very heavy) etc.

I would recommend for your friend to go and test ride both, see which one he likes better.

That is my oppinion

You cannot say anything positive about any motorcycle except a VTX 1300 on this website. VTX 1300 is the finest motorcycle ever made and no other motorcycle can compare. This is a prerecorded message.......

If He is into customizing his ride.... Vstar all the way.

Can't count howmany posts Ive read where 1300 guys complain about products not being produced for their bikes.
There are more vstar options out there than you can imagine, including custom shops working on only that bike.

If he's the kind of guy to buy it and just ride it...... buy which ever you can get the best deal on.... both great bikes.
